Dr. Tracy Murphy has helped patients at North Shore Audio-Vestibular Lab since 1993. She takes an active role in bringing contemporary hearing and balance care to her patients. Nothing pleases Dr. Murphy more than when patients report satisfaction with the hearing health care she provides. She loves seeing patients find relief after experiencing difficulty with hearing loss or chronic dizziness. Dr. Murphy’s success as a practitioner stems from thorough understanding of a patient’s medical history, establishing a proper diagnosis and ensuring that the patient leaves with the best solution possible. Dr. Murphy firmly believes that knowledge is power and takes pride in educating her patients to understand their hearing needs.
Dr. Murphy is active in state and national organizations, serving in roles that recognize her for her leadership abilities. In 2016, her peers elected her to serve on the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Audiology. Since completing her three-year board term, Dr. Murphy continues to serve on various committees within the Academy. She is involved with interprofessional efforts outside the Academy that recognize and promote the importance of hearing health care. She is an active member of the Hearing Health Collaborative, a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals that was formed to understand the underlying barriers to accessing hearing health care and to define a plan to overcome those challenges.
Dr. Murphy enjoys teaching and has been an invited speaker at Rush and Northwestern Universities, was interviewed on the NBC weekend news about the impact of hearing loss in the workplace and has been a guest on WGN Radio with host Bill Moller. In January 2017, Dr. Murphy was recognized for her contributions to the field of Audiology by receiving Honors of the Illinois Academy of Audiology.
